Spock so happy sleeping tight

Has been a while since i’ve seen Spock as relaxed as this evening. It was raining outside so i burned some wood in the fireplace to make it cosy.

Before the sunset the sun came out again.

Glass door book case

Last saturday we were in the second hand shop in gent. After i’d dragged all the fragile stuff in the car (few blocks away) and returned to the festive area i dragged S back in the shop and showed him the glass door book case – a slightly worn out piece of furniture from about fifty years ago. He liked it too and since it cost only sixteen euros we decided to buy it. When we were about to pay the electricity went out in the whole building..

Today S swapped cars at his work to get us a transport vehicle that could take in that bookcase. As bonus he drove to stekene later in the evening and collected the water container he’s been dreaming about for a while. It can contain one thousand liters and it used to be filled with caramel sauce.

Hackman soup spoon

Yesterday we did the unusual thing and drove to gent on a saturday!! S had to hand out some flyers in the happening at kringloopwinkel brugse poort and i went along to do some shopping.

Found something familiar there for a democratic price of one and half euro. Still in it’s original package a soup spoon with a wooden stem (palissander) made in sorsakoski, finland. So cute! It’s from Lion Deluxe set designed by bertel gardberg somewhere in the sixties.

Also bought seventeen plates in four different sizes for 8,75 euros. They’re white with brown stripe around on the edge and two blue flowers painted on the border. They’re made in sweden by rörstrand and the set is designed by jacqueline lynd in 1988. They look much older though, vintage style. Here’s a coffeecup from the same set. Turns out that in 1989 hackman bought the porcelain production in wärtsilä and they continued under the name rörstrand-hackman. Today they’re both brands of of iittala group.

Rörstrand Diamant Viva Jackie Lynd

I have no idea where the six glasses i bought in the same place come from.

We had meat fondue party in the garden yesterday evening. Just the two of us and the chicken.

It’s been a warm sunny day and i accidentally burned my neck. We biked to a second hand market in zwaluwlaan and made a tour along the river on our way back home. Spotted a possible bike for Gk for sale on the side of the road. Noted down the phone number. Now we both got unisex mexican striped long green summer pants. 1969 edition of photography annual. A pen holder with a yellow canary bird carved from one piece of wood.

I posted this out in our garden with annoying but silent small flies buzzing around the screen and listening to classic21 from our wireless wooden speaker. S was laying lazy on the trampoline all this time and he still is, reading his book. We’ll have some pancakes with whipped cream soon..

Apple blossoms

It’s such a peaceful morning, the first of this weekend. The sun is slowly rising and the birds singing in the forest. S and i both with macbooks in different rooms doing our thing.

Already had black coffee and fed the chicken and the cats. Filled the washing machine with green stuff.

Today I’ll try installing eyetv in my old iMac g4, if only it can handle running the software, the poor old thing. If it works we can start using it as our entertainment device and attach a block of lacie to it as storage. If S gets the wireless working on it too, of course. The same thing as in Gent once before, it would not accept the password, but S could fix it then so i guess it will be no problem this time too. Handy man is good.

Other than that, no plans for the weekend which is fine. Tomorrow’s dinner is cancelled because they get the isolation sprayed in their house. Spijtig genoeg our gemeente has got no activities related to de erfgoeddag tomorrow. Maybe we’ll just go biking around the area. Maybe we’ll just stay in the garden.

Yesterday i looked for stacy lattisaw’s jump to the beat and found it. What a marvellous disco blog!

Flower bouqet

The evening before my birthday S drove to the chicken farm and got us a chicken hut. We placed it at the back of the garage and S made a hole in the wire fence for the egg box. Then he drove back to the chicken farm and came back with five chicks. They had to be kept in the hut for the first night so that they would settle down a bit. Now their third night is ahead and they seem more or less at ease. But til now only two eggs in the box: the first one was really small and bumpy “stress-egg” but the second one we found looked more like an egg. We didn’t eat it yet.

Nice sunny and long weekend. Flowers. Trampoline. Garden. Fire. Green. Misty morning. This afternoon we barbequed. After eating (out in the garden) we layed down on the grass on the straw blanket. Warm sunset.

Soon a documentary about het lam gods on canvas+ in eyeTv.

Narcissen

Staying home with Gk and it rains. Annoying showers all day long, good for the garden though. Trying to get the wash dry. Out and back in. Time has been flying today. And we did “nothing” at all.

My view has changed: there’s a half built green wire fence supported by dark brown wooden posts. Soon there will be a small shed too and a couple of chickens walking around. Fresh eggs..

Seeds that already sprout: radish, green peas, spinach, carrots, artichoke, tomato, strawberry..

Yesterday i was shopping in a hurry and bought angus beef when i thought i was buying lamb. It was delicious anyway, with creamy mushroom sauce and rice. Fresh thyme!

We had two invitations for this weekend, one from our previous neighbors and one from our new neighbors. Due to circumstances we could only accept the nearby option. Tonight.

S just got up and made me touch his cold and wet shirts. He’d been sweating out the fever all night long. I think i’ll just hang the blankets out in the sun today. Yes, it’s still shining. :)
