Today I finally had a chance to listen to this cd I bought from Hulst last Sunday. (On the background the picture frames from “stupid birds” shop in Hulst, also known as de rozenboog.) On the same day I finally found goji berries! Verswinkel Marlou Segers had them in a plastic box next to all kinds of chocolate covered goodies. But the taste of goji was a disappointment.. I’ll just have to get used to it. Superfood!!

So today I had a day off and I stayed home which made S sort of jealous of my fine day alone. I didn’t drink thee as he “fantasized” in advance. But I did go to the garage and got 3 boxes out. One containing photo albums – about time to save them from the moist forest air. Another box was labeled as my stuff from the closet upstairs and it contained lots of interesting stuff which I’ll look closer another time. One wooden library box had gone a bit bad and I had to rinse a thin layer of mold from it and dry it by the fire. It’ll be ok after I’ve glued the lid together again. The third box was filled with x-mas decorations. Some of them are already spread around the house. Then I found snow flakes upstairs and attached them in the windows. Here’s my corner before I hung the green pearl slingers and blinking garlands around the window (to hide the ugly sides).

(We need to get rid of the roses wallpaper next year!)

The cd player in the living room was not attached to the stereo and I didn’t want to go looking for wires so I just turned on the old flat panel and listened with that. It took me all day to do all kinds of tiny things so it was already dark when I got a chance to eat. I fried green curry shrimps with onion and broccoli in a wok. Really nice!

Tämä ihana sametinpehmeä herkku löytyi viimeksi kauppareissulla rajan takana. Purkit olivat piilotettuina mahdollisimman vaikeasti huomattavaan paikkaan, ylimmälle hyllylle kylmäkaappirivistöjen nurkkaan. Melkein jo ostin kevyttä luomurahkaa niinkuin ennenkin mutta onneksi silmäni osuivat tähän. Todella hyvää!

Eija teki maanantaina väliaikaisen paluun työelämään, joten olen päässyt puhumaan suomea tällä viikolla. Eilen vedimme tavanomaisen korttelirundin ennen ruokaa ja tänään pitkällä ruokiksella tramireissun Origin’Oon.

Oon tästä ruokavalion muutoksesta johtuen kärsinyt jo noin viikon jonkinasteisesta ummetuksesta. Viikonloppuna sain suolen toimimaan pellavansiemenlimalla mutta eilen illalla olo oli taas tukala ja turvauduin Suomesta ostettuun laksatiiviin. Se auttoi kyllä – mutta sai luvan olla kertaluonteinen lääkitys.

Kaikenmaailman keskustelupalstoilta olen lukenut että öljyn lisäämisen pitäisi auttaa. Käytän öljyä ihan tarpeeksi ruuanlaitossa mutta sen raakana suoraan pullosta nauttiminen ei juurikaan houkuta.. Tätä ihanaa kookosöljyä (jota muuten oli vielä kotona purkin pohjalla ihovoiteena) ajattelin nyt kokeilla aamuisen espressoni sekaan.

Etsin myös kuumeisena psylliumia kun siitäkin on netissä niin paljon positiiviseen sävyyn kirjoiteltu. Löysin sitä ainoastaan suolenpuhdistusmuodossa, luontaislääkehyllyltä. (Kun kuvittelin löytäväni sen jauho-osastolta.) Valitsin tämän sinivalkoisen paketin koska siinä oli vähiten muita aineita. Ainoastaan maitohappobakteeria ja inuliinia lisätty sekaan.

Vaikka kookosöljyn ja psylliumin luulisi auttavan suolen toimintaan ostin silti vielä paketin kuivattuja luumuja. Luulisi onnistumisen olevan näillä eväin aika takuuvarmaa.

Mukaan edellä mainittujen lisäksi kookospaistorasvaa, kookosjauhoja, vehnänalkioita, kurpitsansiemeniä, kuorimattomia manteleita, seesaminsiemeniä ja agar-agaria. Lisäksi tuolla kuvan taustalla piilottelee paketti luomupikkuhousunsuojia, joita ei ole valkaistu kloorilla – eikä niihin ole lisätty mitään kukkaisaromeja. Hintaa kaikelle kertyi vähän päälle kuusikymppiä.

Our new doorbell hanging at the gate. It took a while for S to drill a hole in the old cement gatepost so that he could attach the pole where the bell hangs. When the bell was finally hanging and he tested it few times one small dragon head fell off. It was so badly oxidized. Anyway, the bell works fine without the missing part and we can hear it perfectly indoors as well.

Quiconque me touche entendra ma voix.

Today we’re planning to take a trip on the river. I hope they still got free canoes for this afternoon as we didn’t reserve any yet. The weather is fine, sunny but not burning hot. Later on we’ll have a barbeque in the garden.

Oh, i wish we were on holiday already! Still one week to go..

Last night i programmed Tacones Lejanos in eyetv. For once my laptop didn’t snap unexpectedly and it got fully recorded.

Last saturday we were in the second hand shop in gent. After i’d dragged all the fragile stuff in the car (few blocks away) and returned to the festive area i dragged S back in the shop and showed him the glass door book case – a slightly worn out piece of furniture from about fifty years ago. He liked it too and since it cost only sixteen euros we decided to buy it. When we were about to pay the electricity went out in the whole building..

Today S swapped cars at his work to get us a transport vehicle that could take in that bookcase. As bonus he drove to stekene later in the evening and collected the water container he’s been dreaming about for a while. It can contain one thousand liters and it used to be filled with caramel sauce.

Yesterday we did the unusual thing and drove to gent on a saturday!! S had to hand out some flyers in the happening at kringloopwinkel brugse poort and i went along to do some shopping.

Found something familiar there for a democratic price of one and half euro. Still in it’s original package a soup spoon with a wooden stem (palissander) made in sorsakoski, finland. So cute! It’s from Lion Deluxe set designed by bertel gardberg somewhere in the sixties.

Also bought seventeen plates in four different sizes for 8,75 euros. They’re white with brown stripe around on the edge and two blue flowers painted on the border. They’re made in sweden by rörstrand and the set is designed by jacqueline lynd in 1988. They look much older though, vintage style. Here’s a coffeecup from the same set. Turns out that in 1989 hackman bought the porcelain production in wärtsilä and they continued under the name rörstrand-hackman. Today they’re both brands of of iittala group.

I have no idea where the six glasses i bought in the same place come from.

We had meat fondue party in the garden yesterday evening. Just the two of us and the chicken.

It’s been a warm sunny day and i accidentally burned my neck. We biked to a second hand market in zwaluwlaan and made a tour along the river on our way back home. Spotted a possible bike for Gk for sale on the side of the road. Noted down the phone number. Now we both got unisex mexican striped long green summer pants. 1969 edition of photography annual. A pen holder with a yellow canary bird carved from one piece of wood.

I posted this out in our garden with annoying but silent small flies buzzing around the screen and listening to classic21 from our wireless wooden speaker. S was laying lazy on the trampoline all this time and he still is, reading his book. We’ll have some pancakes with whipped cream soon..

I just ate the biggest mikado stick ever! One of my colleagues is just back from Japan and he brought us snacks. Glico’s Giant Pocky chocolate sticks and a selection of see weed cookies (in the picture). The pocky was delicious but i shouldn’t have eaten het zeewierkoekje right after it. Although it was also tasty and nicely crispy i would have appreciated that flavor more another time. Luckily i had some truly smoothy party animals to rinse the fishy taste from my tongue.

Sunnuntai [Zendag] on kääntynyt iltaan ja taas sataa. Etsimättä jäivät kopioidut kielikurssit timolle, koska en saanut aikaiseksi etsiä niitä valoisan aikaan. Kiipesin juuri ennen nukkumaan menoa tikkaita parvelle vain todetakseni varastoni olevan kylpyhuoneremontin jälkeisen pölyn peitossa. Ei natsannut pöllytellä iltahämärässä etenkin kun hengitystieni ovat kärsineet ylirasittuneessa tilassa jo muutaman viikon – siinä määrin, että astmapiipun hankinta on käväissyt mielessä useammin kuin kerran. Yskittää.

Tänä Gentin vallankumouksen päivänä teimme uhkarohkean teon piipahtamalla vihollisreviirillä länsiflaaminmaalla. Paluutamme ei onneksi estetty millään lailla.. Olosuhteiden pakosta (pääsiäsloma = “suljettu”) söimme keskinkertaisen iltapäivälounaan the loungessa. Saatuamme annokset eteemme olimme ravintolan ainoat paikan päällä syövät asiakkaat. Minun annokseni ongelmana oli runsaalla kädellä ammennettu (valmis?)valkokastike, joka sai ruuan maistumaan einekseltä. Vieruskaverin lautasella wok oli kuulemma kuivahtanutta vaikkakin näytti herkulliselta.

Lopun valoisaa aikaa makasin sängyssä katsoen eilen alennuksesta ostamaani leffaa Sylvia Plathista. Päiväkirjan uusintakierros on odottanut keskeneräisessä tilassa jo useamman kuukauden.

Olin pakotettu ostamaan uuden kännykän, koska nykyinen on luovutettava tulevalle entiselle työnantajalle ensi perjantaina. Piti saada halpa, siedettävän näköinen ja tietyillä ominaisuuksilla kattamaan aikaa ennen iphonea. Hetken harkittuani valitsin sony ericssonin mallia K550i.
