Hiostava päivä
September 10th, 2011

Kahviakin kuumottaa..

Pienet kultaiset lehdet satelivat rauhallisesti maahan vienoisen tuulenvireen osuessa oksiin.

Ja pähkinöitäkin on alkanut jo satelemaan. Tänä vuonna tulossa taas huippusato!

Venäläisellä lohikäärmepähkinänsärkijällä on taas töitä.

Jos näistä tuoreista nylkee tuon pähkinän päällä olevan kalvon pois (lähtee aika helposti) niin kitkeryys häviää mausta.

Rony in Zelzate
August 15th, 2011

On our last holiday Monday together we drove off to “aperitiefconcert” in Zelzate. Rony Verbiest played with his band in a hot white tent. In the break we bought some cds – 2 of the new one and one older where he plays saxophone – all signed. I’ll send one of the new cds to my father (as we couldn’t find any in June before our trip to Finland).
The rest of the day was just chilling in the garden.. for once it did not rain.

Musical
January 10th, 2010

Today i was planning to remove every piece of seasonal decoration and dye my hair fresh copper again. Instead i started with backing up & updating my wordpress and for the rest of the day i’ve been helping S with wordpress and a new site for DvhS. We had quick and late lunch from the leftovers of yesterday’s spinach lasagne..
Oh, and after breakfast i played Róisín Murhpy‘s new song from the internet (momma’s place) and S immediately linked it to ’80s, Farley Jackmaster Funk and Roadblock by S+A+W. His brain makes fast connections when it comes to music.
Earlier this week we met in De Wan after work and some guy there wanted to hear Rod Piazza (and the mighty flyers) so the cafébaas looked it up for him. Makes your feet move to the beat! ;)

Reason to celebrate: it has finally stopped raining!
Amazing sunshine when i biked back from the library with two books and a small bread from león tied on the rack of brompton. I traced the route from our house to the mailbox (well, actually vice versa) because tomorrow morning i’ll have to do it in the dark and the landscape is pretty rough after the monsoon period. One of the books i took with from the bib is waar niemand is inspired by my all-time-internet favorite le and also because it happens in finland.
Here at home i inserted cd of sheila chandra (how i dislike the cd cover & prefer the lp cover – too bad our lp’s are still in the soft cardboard box in the garage – and i bought this lp so long = 20 years ago, in the sellout of a library where i was working then) and i started to chop and shed a lot of tears with three onions. Since we received so many paprika’s by mistake on friday (when someone accidentally gave us someone else’s basket of food) i’m preparing gevulde paprika’s for our sunday late lunch. The sun was still shining in while i was brushing the champignons – something that he would call zen i guess, while i call it just cooking.
Now i’m waiting for S & Gk back from the swimming pool. Red porto that i heated up – accidentally almost boiled the bottle on the stove – and garlic crackers. Soon i’ll chop some more wood. Gotta keep warm. :)
“She leaves no roads open”
May 16th, 2009

The last thing i did yesterday before shutting down and going to sleep was downloading Asha Puthli‘s LP from the iTunes. Until then i’d never heard but one track from her – the amazing jj cale cover right down here which appears also on the compilation diggin deeper vol. 1 – - the roots of acid jazz. Listened to her this evening with Gk. We dumped the grand finale of eurosongcontest because it was soooo boring. But Gk wanted to see Finland so i let her watch it on my macbook and then put her to bed.
Since we have so many fresh eggs i baked a cake today. We had strawberries with ice cream with it. How delicious..
Underneath the apple tree?
April 25th, 2009

It’s such a peaceful morning, the first of this weekend. The sun is slowly rising and the birds singing in the forest. S and i both with macbooks in different rooms doing our thing.
Already had black coffee and fed the chicken and the cats. Filled the washing machine with green stuff.
Today I’ll try installing eyetv in my old iMac g4, if only it can handle running the software, the poor old thing. If it works we can start using it as our entertainment device and attach a block of lacie to it as storage. If S gets the wireless working on it too, of course. The same thing as in Gent once before, it would not accept the password, but S could fix it then so i guess it will be no problem this time too. Handy man is good.
Other than that, no plans for the weekend which is fine. Tomorrow’s dinner is cancelled because they get the isolation sprayed in their house. Spijtig genoeg our gemeente has got no activities related to de erfgoeddag tomorrow. Maybe we’ll just go biking around the area. Maybe we’ll just stay in the garden.
Yesterday i looked for stacy lattisaw’s jump to the beat and found it. What a marvellous disco blog!
Rockin’ fields
August 24th, 2008

We revisited the annual Rockabillyday: Miss Ruby Ann was the best – with a great band and really good guitar player. Unfortunately she didn’t have enough cd’s with her and many eager new fans had to leave with empty hands. When searching for her cd online i found this nice site.
S got himself five cans of hair wax: red and green Dax (wave and groom + green and gold), Murray’s Orignal and Hair-glo and a good smelling Voodoo Brew from High Life Pomade. Then he bought five more for his barber. And two pink pussycats. My only shopping was five vintage notebooks but we left the vintage porn there.
Back home i cooked spaghetti bolognese from the things i’d chopped before noon. Then we watched Dirty Harry.
November, after five years..
August 9th, 2008

Oh yes, before we left to the camping S had sent me a mail but i only read it the evening we returned back home (which was yesterday). He surprised me with two tickets to Róisín Murphy in Brussel!
I’m a lucky happy woman. :)
Bilbo sell-out
May 17th, 2008

We went to Bilbo sales this noon. Fifty procent discount from all cd’s and i bought seven.
Miho Hatori – ecdysis [she's the one from cibo matto]
Divas de Cuba [Omara Portuondo, onder andere]
Sting – the dream of the blue turtles [because of the turtles, only five euros]
Merceded Sosa – the best of [memories from when i was young(er)]
Jukka Eskola -jukka eskola [teppo mäkynen from teddy rok seven plays with]
The trendy eastern Tokyo / Music for Living Style … from day into night [mooi]
Music for modern living [loungy...]
S bought more than i did, including the two i found for him: gene vincent and a 70′s gay soundtrack. Gk found two cds from two different girl(y) trios.
Now we’ll go and eat something in the hopduvel.
One summer weekend before May
April 27th, 2008
We discovered a funky jazz club on friday evening. After visiting a private soirée at deluxe we stopped in the old Patershol for a drink. Rococo was not yet open so we went to Aba Jour instead. Leen was there with a friend (Anja) and we were invited to take seats at their gereserveerd table. There i sat with three west-vlamingen. S had a duvel and i a glass of red wine. The two of us though about having a jenever in ‘t Dreupelkot before going home but when we were returning back to our car we happened to peek into an underground world of White Cat and it looked so inviting that we decided to step in and check it out. It turned out to be an excellent choice. Great music both live and by dj. Live was a funky hammond sound accompanied with drums, a trombone and a piano. Absinth on the menu caused that after few hours we had no other choice than to pay for tomorrow’s parking and walk home.
The next day we returned to Patershol and bought some comics in Popville. I bought plots #2 and #3 and S bought a set of 6 albums from Fritz Van den Heuvel and a second hand cd of AC/DC*. Then we had a late lunch in Simon Says : croques & solid cakes. We skipped all the other plans we had for that afternoon and drove blue kango home after i had bought a gift for Iitu in the monsters with an attitude. Somewhere in between S made a choice and returned home with a knife from Laguiole.
Saïd came to pick us up with a red deluxe bus and we listened to Powerage* all the way to Menen and back. We saw the non stop show “de boane noar rissel” bij de figuranten.
