And we’re back from the sea

This flower is from monday before we left the forest for few days. S will be back tomorrow..
Almost midsummer
June 14th, 2010

Not far from this flower grows a birch. It’s just a twig but survived the heavy winter and I’d like to see it become a tree. We’ve got lots of big trees in our garden but no white birch yet.
Not far from this flower is a shelter for two rabbits. One of them was a free “gift” and we call him Topi instead of Toby. But he looks like marilyn manson used to, with his white face and black smeared around his eyes. He arrived two weeks ago sort of against my will. Two days ago we bought him a friend who’s got floppy ears. It was love at first sight for Topi.
Next to this flower stands a tree that is called shademaster – at least i think so.
Not far from this flower goes the path of forest cows. We can see them pass by our garden behind the greenness and catch a glimpse of golden hair (or black curls) when they turn towards the sunset at the open corner. They always make me think of the unicorns in the end of the world.
Since saturday we have a white mermaid sitting on top of our water wells. Longing to get green from moss..
I’ve just ordered a set of dutchys for the chicken.
Better not to see

Golden locks swinging in the sunset..
Steamy windows
February 28th, 2010

Storm is blowing over Belgium today. It started to wind real hard in the afternoon and immediately all the windows became steamy on the inside. One of the roof tiles blew off from the top, next to the chimney.
Last weekend we moved the chicken to the other side of the house and they’re doing fine work there. Most of the moss is already loose and they pick all kinds of larvae and insects from the ground that might be bad for vegetables.
As usual we made nice plans to go somewhere in the weekend but didn’t go anywhere further than to visit our neighbors (about 300 meters away) around the noon to check their signal (which was ok so the problem was in the box) and brought them two pulla‘s and three twigs of witch hazel as gift.
Yesterday we did some shopping in lidl but were not so pleased with the stuff they got so we probably won’t do it again. I guess we’re spoiled then..
2010 is here
January 3rd, 2010

We did a short walk on sunny street to bring the new year’s cards to some of our neighbors.
Back home yesterday the pump had no pressure to bring up water. So we’re doing without and it sucks. We need to call someone.
It’s freezing outside again. We never had this cold winters in Gent but here it’s already the second time that it happens. Our street is covered with ice.
I think we need to go to sauna / swimming pool this week.
Challenge every action

Reason to celebrate: it has finally stopped raining!
Amazing sunshine when i biked back from the library with two books and a small bread from león tied on the rack of brompton. I traced the route from our house to the mailbox (well, actually vice versa) because tomorrow morning i’ll have to do it in the dark and the landscape is pretty rough after the monsoon period. One of the books i took with from the bib is waar niemand is inspired by my all-time-internet favorite le and also because it happens in finland.
Here at home i inserted cd of sheila chandra (how i dislike the cd cover & prefer the lp cover – too bad our lp’s are still in the soft cardboard box in the garage – and i bought this lp so long = 20 years ago, in the sellout of a library where i was working then) and i started to chop and shed a lot of tears with three onions. Since we received so many paprika’s by mistake on friday (when someone accidentally gave us someone else’s basket of food) i’m preparing gevulde paprika’s for our sunday late lunch. The sun was still shining in while i was brushing the champignons – something that he would call zen i guess, while i call it just cooking.
Now i’m waiting for S & Gk back from the swimming pool. Red porto that i heated up – accidentally almost boiled the bottle on the stove – and garlic crackers. Soon i’ll chop some more wood. Gotta keep warm. :)
Danny boys

They blow like steam machines when sniffing around for food. I call all the blond ones with one name: danny (well, i call them all dannys but the browns and blacks could also be called mansikkis and mustikkis, respectively).
Wish i could jump

Lately our house has been invaded by ladybirds. They’re quite harmless but spin around like tiny helicopters in the silence of the night before going to sleep.
Yesterday there were two green woodpeckers flying around the garden. They were very interested in the gap between new rooftop and walls. One of them landed few times on the wooden frame of the bedroom window with a soft thump but was not harmed. It observed the space above the window for a while and flew away. Gorgeous bird!
Golden autumn day. I’ll take a bus to G this afternoon because i have another session at kine. Tonight is the handing over of the Utopie in wrought iron at the dog’s dream. We still don’t have a name for our house.
