Day in the city

August 17th, 2008

There was book market on the Ajuinlei but we didn’t know about it until we were there. Both of us bought a few nice books on our way to the Patersholfeesten. For once we decided to eat while it was still “official lunchtime” and we chose a cosy tavern where we’d never been to before – although walked by it hundreds of times, ‘t Stropke. Just like last sunday in the parkkaffee, we both had gentse stoverij. It was served in a black, oval la cocotte with gekonfijte appels en fritjes. We were satisfied.

In cafe Folklore they had a special offer for this weekend: 33 for the price of 25! With drinks they served another gentse specialiteit kroakemandels (in oil baked salty green peas) but we found them not so tasty. (Not everyone shares our opinion.)

Flower flavored ice-creams on our way home. Then S went to get some dvd’s and we watched a mediocre french film with ninja-monks and Jean Reno.
